MALAM (EXAMINATION OF THE STOOLS)


                            The colour of the stools, odour, consistency, froth, formation, laxation like characters have to inspectecd thoroughly.

                         The humoral state of the body can be identified by just inspecting the colour of the stools and this methodology has been propounded by the ‘Vaithya sindhamani’ as following,

    
             a)Dark and tenacious sticky stools are indicative of vaatha diseases,
                          
             b)Little,reddish yellow warm stools are indicative of pitha diseases,
                          
             c)Colourless and whitish stools imply kaba diseases
                          
             d)Assorted coloured stools are of mixed humoral diseases.
                            
                          
Examination of stools as according to ‘Therayar Yamagam’

              a)If the stools are of Yellowish Colour it is Vaathakaba fever,
                           
              b)If the stools are of conch coloured it is suggestive of Gunmam(Abdominal disorder) or vitiation of pitham and mental disturbance.
                                      
              c) If the stools smell like that of a mullai flower underlying condition is ear infection,
                           
              d)When the stools are shiny and dazzling like a lightning it is a fulminant  inveterate disease.
                           
              e) If and when the stools are like sheath of a sword, pipe-like and bole inside  it is a hopeless case of Mixed kaba fever.

Colour of the stools like a white flower
Fever due to cold
Colour of stool like fresh turmeric
Vaathakaba fever
Colour of stool like  ‘Paathiri’(whithsh red)flower
Kabavaatha fever

Stools reddish yellow like a ‘Manchadi’ flower
A life threatening ano rectal condition(Moola vaayu)
Stool colour like that of ‘mantharai’or ‘rose’ flower
Delirous(Sannivaatha)condition
with high mortality
Stools hard and coloured  like Dark frog
2 months survival



GRAVE STOOL SIGN:

               When the stool is hard like that of pellet shaped goat excreta and emanates a stink of the corpse it is a sure grave sign.
