It indicates the integrity of the voice apparatus, oral musculature, central nervous system(speech area) and the level of consciousness. The voice might be bass, high pitched(Pitha constitution) or a normal pitched one(vaatha constitution).
The natural voice of a kabam constitution subject is a mellifluous one. First the normal voice of the patient must be identified by the history and then the status of present one should be ascertained.
The voice of the patient at the terminal stage might give a clue as to how near and imminent the death is to be. This is tabulated below as according to the ‘Theran yamagam’.
